An Important Post

Some of you may of read my post back on August 18 but I am re-posting this. I grew up in Ohio. I moved away to our first duty station a little over two years ago and will always hold my hometown close to my heart. On June 5th of this year several tornadoes touched down in Northwest Ohio and Michigan. These tornadoes were right by my hometown and did some major damage. Several people lost their lives and homes from this disaster. One of these tornadoes his Lake High School in Millbury, Ohio the day before the graduation ceremonies were to take place in this school. FEMA has denied funding to those effected by the tornadoes saying it was not enough of a disaster. Lake High School is relying on donations to rebuild as the insurance company will not cover it.

When I think back to high school I can't imagine what it would be like to have lost my high school to a Tornado. You spend so much time in school surrounded by your peers and the walls that keep you safe. Schools are filled with memories and on June 5, 2010 a tornado took that away from so many generations of people. The students of Lake have started their school year in different buildings throughout the are and what better way to pay your respects to those lost then to give this town a chance to rebuild their high school. A chance for hope. Please, if you have not already vote for Lake High School in the Kohls Cares Contest on Facebook. Currently, Lake is in 2nd place but it's going to take a lot to keep in the top as all schools are pushing for votes. Today is the Last day to vote and voting ends at 1am est time. You can vote a total of 5 times for Lake! Also if you share on Facebook, twitter, or submit an idea on the school page you can earn extra votes for Lake! CLICK HERE to vote and give these students and this community hope for the future!
